Friends of the Library Christmas Book Sale!  @ the Senior Activity Center, Friday  December 10, 10-4PM

Join us at the Senior Activity Center Monday, December 10 @ 3 PM, for a special presentation on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.  Karen De Vos, a retired teacher and school librarian, transforms herself into Rawlings and discusses the author's colorful Florida "Cracker" characters such as Uncle Benny and his eight hound dogs, three-hundred-pound Quincey Dover who dotes on her husband, Will and Fred Thompkin's panther ghost on the Oklawaha River.

We'll have coffee and snacks.  Everyone is welcome!

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings'  Utterly Deadly Southern Pecan Pie

4 eggs                                                  1 cup sugar

1 1/2 cups Southern can syrup              4 TBSP butter

1 1/2 cups broken pecan meats             1 tsp vanilla

Boil sugar and syrup together two or three minutes.  Beat eggs not too stiff, pour in slowly the hot syrup, add the butter, vanilla and the pecan meats, broken rather coarsely.  Turn into a raw pie shell and bake in a moderte oven about forty-five minutes, or until set.
