reserve or renew online
If you already know how to sign in to the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC),
proceed to the online catalog link here: Catalog in order to renew, reserve, or
view your account information.
A person who wishes to place a hold on, or reserve a particular book must be a
registered library patron and must know their assigned Patron ID number (barcode
number) and PIN. Your PIN is the last four digits of the barcode. To place a
hold, please follow the steps listed below:
Go online to the Orange Beach Public Library home page:
www.orangebeachlibrary.org
Click on the "catalog" link, then search for a title, author, or subject.
Select the desired format (book, movie, audio tape). When the desired title is
displayed, click on the title for the labeled format.
If the item is available, the location(s) will be shown under the author and
title display. You may place a request even if the item is currently
unavailable.
Click on the "Hold Request" button at the top of the page on the right.
Enter your Patron ID number (the barcode number found on the back of the card).
Enter your PIN in the appropriate box.
Select the Baldwin County Library Branch you would like the item to be sent to
for pickup.
Click on the "Submit Request" button.
If the Patron ID or PIN is not correct, the message "Your hold request failed
for the following reason(s): The Patron ID number or PIN is not valid." Should
that message appear, please contact the library (981-2923).
If the hold request was successful, the following message will appear: "Your
hold has been approved for: Author........
Title..........
The hold on this item will expire on........
When the requested item becomes available, library staff will contact you.

RENEW LIBRARY MATERIALS
The following items may NOT be renewed: new books, books that have reserves on
them, and video and DVD recordings.
To renew items checked out on your record please follow the steps listed below.
Click on this Catalog link. At the bottom of the catalog page click on the
"Patron Record" button. Type in your barcode number from the back of your
library card, then type in your PIN number and click on "submit request". Your
PIN number is the last four digits of your barcode.
Scroll down to the "LOANS" section. A list of items checked out on your card
appears with the corresponding due date.
Click in the box on the left and a check mark appears.
Click the "Renew Checked Items" button.
A message at the top of the page appears saying "Items have been renewed" and an
updated due date appears next to the corresponding item.
NOTE: New books, books with reserves on them, and video and DVD recordings may
NOT be renewed and must be returned to the library for further circulation.
