Special programs designed for home schooled students are offered every Thursday at 2pm during the school year (September-April).
Generally designed for children in elementary grades, the program is open to any interested students aged 5 and up. The format of this program varies but weekly sessions last approximately one hour and always involve socialization/conversation and creativity.
For the 2007-2008 school year, we'll be trying something new. Instead of having a single theme all semester, we'll be doing something different every week!
- The first week every month will be our most academic. Ms. Maria and Ms. Patsy will introduce you to some of the wonderful resources that the library has (as well as some of our top picks for online information) on a specific subject area. If you have specific topic needs, we'd love to have you tell us which subjects will be most helpful to you each month.
- The second week of every month will be dedicated to fun with arts and crafts.
- The third week of each month will be an "open mic"/show-and-tell day where each student is encouraged to bring a project they've been working on to show off for all of us. You can sing us your favorite song, recite a poem you've just memorized, show us your latest artwork, or read us the amazing report you just wrote about sea turtles.
- The last week of the month will be booktalk day. We want everyone to come prepared to "advertise" their favorite book. This doesn't mean that you need to do a book report or film a commercial, it just means that we want you to come and talk about a book. (You can even tell us about the book that you hate the most -- just be prepared for a lot of questions about why it's so bad.)
