Language Learning
Goodbye Rosetta, Hello Livemocha PDF Print E-mail

As noted in previous posts, effective June 30, 2008, Rosetta Stone online language learning will no longer be available to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach library patrons. In a letter dated September 21, 2007, Rosetta Stone notified public libraries that after “careful analysis the company has decided to discontinue access online for public libraries.” The only option offered by Rosetta Stone was language learning through computers in the library.  The letter can be viewed on the Orange Beach Public Library website: www.orangebeachlibrary.org.

The Orange Beach Public Library suggests a free online language learning site Livemocha.

Livemocha is a free online website where members can tackle 160 hours of beginning or intermediate lessons in French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Hindi or English.
