The Friends' purpose is to create interest in the Orange Beach Library, promote increased knowledge of the library - its services and needs, foster public support for the increased development of the library and its services, and provide opportunities to contribute financial support to the library.
The Friends meetings are open to everyone. They meet at the library the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 AM.

Please check the area of volunteer work that you are interested in and someone will contact you.
Your membership support provides library extras such as : books on tape, videos, computer programs, large print books, and the children's summer program.
A quarterly newsletter about the activities of the Friends is mailed to all members and is available at the library.
What do the Friends do? The Friends activities/events are designed to raise money through memberships and special events which are spent according to the priorities on the Library Director's "wish list".
A fundraiser on an ongoing basis that helps pave the way to knowledge. You may make a donation in honor/memory of a person, organization, or beloved family animal, by purchasing an engraved brick which is permanently placed in the terrace at the library over looking beautiful Wolf Bay.

This event is held the second week in October where members and guest have an opportunity to mingle with each other and the invited presenting authors.

After decorating the library for the Christmas season, Friends hold an Open House for members and others in the community to see the library, visit with each other, taste the delicious homemade goodies. The Friends recognize individuals/organizations that have supported the Friends activities throughout the year.

Please drop off donated books, tapes & CD's (in fairly good condition) anytime, at the library.
To recognize the support of our Winter Guests, the Friends provide an informal gathering, and serve coffee on the library terrace in late February or early March. TBA.
Halfway through the year, the Friends provide an opportunity for members to bring a special dish, and a guest to the luncheon. There is a guest speaker and potential members can learn about the Friends of the Library. This event is designed to increase membership.
This meeting is held at the beginning of the new year to foster awareness of Friends activities, renew memberships and welcome persons interested in becoming members.
